AXIS-Y Sunday Morning Refreshing Cleansing Foam

What’s your current cleansing routine? Recently I’ve been using the new Sunday Morning Refreshing cleansing foam from Axis-y for my second step during my double cleansing routine.

What kind of cleanser is it?

This is a cleanser that is set as a PH level of 5.5 which helps with maintaining moisture and balance while cleansing your skin from excess oils, dirt, and other impurities.

Ingredients 101

Water, Glycerin, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate, Coco-Betaine, Butylene Glycol, Potassium Cocoate, Sodium Chloride, Potassium Benzoate, Polyquaternium-67, Xylitylglucoside, Citric Acid, Anhydroxylitol, Propanediol, Xylitol, Betula Platyphylla Japonica Juice, Glucose, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Disodium EDTA, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Agrimonia Eupatoria Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Centella Asiatica Extract, Dipropylene Glycol, Allantoin, Perilla Frutescens Leaf Extract, Saponaria Officinalis Extract, Sodium Acetate, Pentylene Glycol, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Kigelia Africana Fruit Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Natto Gum, Sodium Hyaluronate, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydroxycinnamic Acid, Rutin

Official ingredient list

Axis-y Foam cleanser has a minimal ingredient list and I was happy to see some familiar ingredients such as Centella Asiatica Extract, Licorice Root Extract, Glycerin, Allantoin, and Chamomilla Flower Extract. Most ingredients are considered level 1 or 2 on the EWG health scale which is a positive factor.

When dissecting the ingredients further, I realized many ingredients have skin soothing benefits such as Centella Asiatica and Sodium Hyaluronate. Also ingredients such as Licorice Root Extract are great for brightening and acne-prone skin. Most of the cleansing agents are Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate,  Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate, Coco-Betaine, and Potassium Cocoate.

An ingredient that could be considered sensitizing especially for extremely sensitive skin would be Citric Acid. This is commonly used as a PH adjuster and anti-aging. Even so it might be something to consider if you have extremely sensitive skin since it’s higher on the ingredient list. Also based on the ingredients and Axis-y website, the cleanser is considered fragrance-free, sulfate-free, alcohol-free, cruelty-free, and vegan.

Overall Experience

I really enjoyed the silky smooth texture of the foam cleanser. It makes my cleansing routine more therapeutic and relaxing. My skin doesn’t feel dry or stripped of it’s natural oil after the cleansing foam which is a plus. Even though it’s consider a foam cleanser, the lather is settled and velvety on the skin. If you’re looking for a gentle cleanser for your double cleansing or morning routine, this would be a good option.

If I had to rate this cleanser, I would give it a 3.75 out of 5 because it’s gentle, velvet texture, hydrating finish, and EWG 1 to 2 ratings. Even so, just like any skincare, it’s not for everyone. Skincare is a personal journey and some might find it irritating due to the citric acid.

Tiger Grass?? Urang Cica Soothing Ampoule

Do you use cica in your skincare??

Urang New Ampoule Release!

Have you heard of Urang new Cica Smoothing Ampoule? When I first found out about their new cica product, I was shook. If you follow me for a while, you’ll know cica is one of my favorite skincare ingredients. I have a lot of skincare loves, and cica is one of them.

What is Cica?

Cica is a nickname for centella asiatica. This skincare ingredient is also know as “tiger grass” in some skincare brands. Sometimes cica is called tiger grass because tigers used to rub cica to help heal their wounds faster. Cica has many benefits such as calming your skin, reducing redness, healing, anti-aging, and repairing your skin as well. The new Urang Cica Ampoule contains a whopping 75.8% of organic Centella Asiatica.

How’s the new ampoule?

Overall, I am really impressed with the new cica ampoule. It has a soothing effect and soaks well into the skin. I have been suffering with some mask acne lately, so I really enjoy incorporating cica in my skincare because it helps calm my skin down. The ampoule is a gel-like and light-weight texture. I absolutely love the texture and how it feels on the skin. I will definitely keep using it in my night skincare routine.

100% Rose Water!! Urang Organic Rose Mist 2020 Edition

Do you like rose water? Or used anything with rose water?

Benefits of Rose Water

There are many great benefits with rose water such as: Soothing skin irritation, reduce redness, contains antioxidants, help with acne, hydrate dry skin, and even tone your skin.

Urang Organic Rose Mist ~ any difference from previous years?

As you can tell, Urang Rose mist is not a new product but every year, a new batch is made. Since the organic rose mist consist of only one ingredient, rose water, the life span of the mist is relatively short compare to other rose mist in the market. Even though the mist life span is short, it is made with a lot of patience and high quality rose. In the previous year, Urang has changed their packaging quite a bit. Back in 2018, the rose water was in a can packaging but later transition to glass packaging in 2019.

I did mention the 2018 rose mist spray in my Urang #onebrandskincare. This video was filmed before all of the recent releases. So keep that in mind.

Even though I’m not a huge fan of rose, I am absolutely obsessed with the packaging. Also surprisingly the scent isn’t as strong as I remembered. This time it smells more gentle and sweet. I guess since each year the batch is different, it could affect the smell of the mist. Who knows? I will definitely give this a chance for sure!

Summer vibes READY!! ft Urang

Oh summer! I love summer weather, ootd, and vibes. This summer has been very different from previous. Most of us are staying home, practicing social distancing, maybe eating too many snacks, and marathon-ing shows on Netflix. I know for sure I am. All of this has definitely made me let go more of my body. My body care is literally a ZERO. Sometime I forget to even put body lotion on. * don’t judge haha *

This year I’ve been experiencing more body and neck acne then I’ve experienced before. I feel like a few reasons could be my hair care, lifestyle, and climate factors. Sometimes I will apply some clay or soft masks on my neck to help with the breakouts and hyperpigmentation. Of course, whatever skincare I put on my face, I will apply on my neck too. This didn’t seem enough, so I was really intrigued when I found out Urang was coming out with some new soaps.

Photo from Urang website

There are 4 different kinds of soap but two of them are new additions, Artemisia Green and Trouble shooter. The other two soaps are Sweet Honey & Milk (new packaging & name now), and Rose Garden (new packaging & name now). Urang’s Handmade soap are cold pressed (CP) soaps which are manufactures for 6 weeks by Urang CEO Jina Lee.

photo from Urang website

There are different ways of making soaps. One is HP which you dry the soap for 2 weeks using 60 degree heat, second is MP which you melt the soap base and add fragrances/color, and moisturizer to harden the mold. Lastly, it is CP which has a manual process of drying period over 4 weeks with 40 to 45 degree heat.

I got Trouble shooter soap since it seem the most effective for body acne and break outs. It contains Content Heartleaf, Perilla, Tea tree leaf oil, olive oil, coconut and palm oil. These ingredients help cleanse your skin and reduce troubles, redness, and acne. Urang recommends this soap for oily to combination skin types but dry skin types can use it as well if they need some soothing. These soaps can be used on both your body or face. I personally prefer using it on my body since I need help more there.

I find the lather really nice! It feels very comfortable and smooth on the skin. I was surprised how nice it felt. It’s been a long time since I’ve used bar soaps since I always go for body wash. Also, the shape and texture of the soap is so unique. I can tell a lot of effort was put into it. I haven’t seen a difference yet with my skin but I will have to use It more often. I will definitely update you again after using it for a longer period of time.

Do you use bar soaps or body wash? Also would you try out the new or upgraded Urang soaps? Leave me a comment~ 🙂

Benefits of Yuja Skincare ft Urang Yuja Vita Ampoule

What is yuja?

Have you heard of yuja or citron? It’s a citrus fruit commonly found in Northern east Asia such as Korea, Japan, China, and Tibet. In Korean it is called Yuja. This fruit is commonly used in tea mixture of sugar, honey, and depulped or thinly sliced yuja. Then add about 3 tablespoons of tea in hot water to dilute it. It’s great tea when you feel sick with a cold, have a sore throat, experience digestive problems or just want a sweet hot tea.

What are the skin benefits of yuja?

Not only is yuja great for the body but it’s benefical for your skin. I remember a couple years ago, so many Korean brands came out with their own version of yuja skincare. When you add yuja into skincare, some perks are high concentration of vitamin c, anti-aging properties, and collagen production stimulation. Since it contains a large amount of vitamin c, it will help with brightening the complexion, evening out your skin tone, and fading hyperpigmentation.

New Yuja Skincare ~ Urang Yuja Vita Ampoule

Recently, Urang released their new ampoule which immediately caught my attention. I am a sucker for anything that helps with brightening my complexion and fading hyperpigmentation. This ampoule is a milky texture that absorbs nicely into the skin. It contains main ingredients such a yuja water, yuja essential oil, and alpha-bisabolol (brightening ingredient).

I was surprised by the milky texture and consistency. Even though it may look thick, it felt really comfortable. Have you used any yuja skincare? What do you think about it?

New Skincare Alert!! Urang Blue Power Ampoule

New Ampoules Alert!!!

So many brands these days are coming with new releases and my wallet can’t handle it. Haha. Not too long ago, Urang renewed their pink everlasting ampoule, and they hit us with two more releases, Yuja vita ampoule and blue power ampoule. I was shook!!

First of all, let’s look at this beautiful color. I thought the Blue oil serum was captivating but the new ampoule catches my attention more. You may see similar ingredients between the oil serum and ampoule, but there is one ingredient that had me mind blow. This new ampoule contains a whopping 92.6% of opuntia humifusa flower extract. Opuntia is great for stimulating new cell growth, calming inflammation, provide anti-aging properities, fading wrinkles, and brightening your skin.

The texture is a bit milky but not thick.  After applying it to my skin, I noticed it had a very hydrating but smoothing finish. It gives my skin a nice natural glow. Also, it absorbs nicely into the skin. After I was introduced to opuntia ingredients through Huxley skincare, I became fond of it. So of course, when I realized Urang new ampoule has a high concentration of opuntia, I had to try it.

What do you think of opuntia? Does it work for you?

Ways to use a face mist (ft Urang perfect daily mist)

Why should we use face mist?

Face mist are a great for refreshing your skin, providing hydration, balancing your skin oil production, and keeping your makeup revived.

Ways to use a mist?

1. The basic way

During the day, whenever you feel like your skin needs some refreshment, give yourself a few sprays. It will help moisturize your skin and make it feel less tight as well. A great mist I like to use is the Urang Perfect Daily mist. It contains neroli aka bitter orange flower which helps regenerate your skin and maintain elasticity to your skin.

2. After Showering

Most people make the big mistake of letting their skin dry after showering which can cause troubles. After stepping out of the shower, our skin will feel a bit dry from the steam. It’s best to apply some mist right away, which gives your skin a break before applying the rest of your skincare. If you want some extra moisture, you can alway add some Urang oil serum into your daily mist to create your own cocktail face mist.

3. Mask

Believe it or not, applying a bit of some face mist right before applying a face sheet mask helps your mask essence absorb more efficiently. I really love using the Aqulabo Jelly Mist since its purpose is to use before applying a mask.

4. Summer Heat

Finally, if you are sensitive to the summer heat/sun, face mists are great for soothing irritated skin. Spray it on both your face and body if irritated or needed. Also if your makeup is starting to cake up because of the heat and air conditioner (or heater in the winter), spray it on top of your makeup. It will freshen up your look while soothing your skin from environmental irritants. Try out face mist with some rose water such as Heimish Bulgarian Rose water OR Urang Organic Rose water.

Which face mist are you currently using?

Trying to get my sleep schedule back to normal ft Urang Room Sprays

These days, my sleeping schedule has been so messed up because of quarantine. I’ve been watching way too much Youtube and Netflix and going to sleep at 3 or 4 am. This wouldn’t be a big issue, but now I am back at work, so I’m barely sleeping much. I tried sleeping songs, staying away from electronics, and forcing myself to sleep. But nothing worked!! I realized scent calms me more than sound, so I invested on a few aroma sprays and diffusors lately.

I never really thought about checking out Urang room sprays, but I wish I knew sooner. There are many different kinds of scents, but I picked up Calming Lavender and Antivirus Bergamot.

Calming Lavender Refreshing Perfume

All ingredients in the room spray are green level EWG approved. Even though its called calming lavender, it has grapefruit oil, lavender oil, boswelia carter oil, and resin oil. Whenever I spray this, I can definitely smell grapefruit oil and lavender oil the most. I do wish the grapefruit oil wasn’t as overwhelming and the lavender could be stronger. Even so, it’s a really nice scent which I love to spray on my bed before going to sleep. It really helps calm my body down.

Antivirus Bergamot

Next we have Antivirus Bergamot, which contains Melaleuca Quinquenervia Oil. Apparently this oil can be used as insect deterrent, which will be useful during the summer. I have a ton of fruits in my home, which means fruit flies will be coming around too. This room spray can be used both on fabric and spray in the air. This scent that I can pick up are citrus, a hint of floral, and tree bark (earthy).

What helps you sleep well? Or do you just sleep right away? Let me know~~

Renewed Urang Pink Everlasting Ampoule!! Finally vegan!

Urang recently released a reformulated version of the Pink Everlasting ampoule. As you may know, I mentioned this ampoule on both my blog and Youtube channel. Of course somethings has changed since then.

What are some differences?

Immediately at first glance, there is already a HUGE difference. The original formula was a very light baby pink color whereas the renovated ampoule is a deeper shade of pink. Why is that?

Why did the color change? Ingredient?

In the renewed formula, hydrolyzed collagen was replaced with hydrolyzed quinoa. Hydrolyzed collagen was derived from fish skin/scales, whereas the hydrolyzed quinoa is plant-derived. Also hydrolyzed quinoa is great for firming and moisture. You maybe thinking, “well why did the color change?” Hydrolyzed quinoa is also known for enhancing color retention. So naturally the color will become more contrast. Another ingredient which was changed was the Cyanocobalamin, a man-made vitamin B12. The ingredient was changed to Methylcobalamin, which is also a vitamin B12.

Cyanocobalamin vs Methylcobalamin? Different?

They are both vitamin B12, BUT one of them is synthetic whereas the other one is natural. As you may guessed it, Cyanocobalamin is man-made. This vitamin B12 is commonly used in supplements since it’s more secure and cost-effective to use. Usually when taking it as a supplement, our body will naturally convert it to methylcobalamin. Also methylcobalamin is much more higher quality and effective for the skin since it absorbs more easily. It totally make sense!

Is it vegan??

Technically yes it is vegan since it does not contain fish skin or scales any longer, BUT it is not officially vegan-certified by an organization. Even though it is a vegan ampoule, most products can not be certified vegan unless the company is located in US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. As you may know, Urang is a Korean brand, located in South Korea. Btw this is my personal opinion/research, so please research more about “vegan-certified” products and regulations.

In the meantime, don’t forget to follow me on Instagram, and check out my recent video on YouTube. I did a whole #onebrandskincare review on Urang. Keep in my mind, I reviewed the old formula of the Pink Everlasting ampoule in the video. I’ve been using the new ampoule quite frequently and am gradually liking it more too.

Urang Vitamin Oil Serum vs Urang Glow Oil Serum | which one is better?

Vitamin Oil vs Glow Oil Serum

If you look at these at a quick glance, they might look like the exact same product. In reality they are very different from each other, even the colors! Let’s check out the differences between them~

Vitamin Oil Serum

These day I’ve been really enjoying incorporating oil serums into my skincare routine. It has made such a huge difference. My skin feels hydrated, smooth, and glowy. This serum is no exception. This serum is filled with 97.68% organic ingredients and 99.9% natural ingredients. When digging more into the ingredients, I realized a lot of the benefits were good for improving skin texture, minimizing the appearance of fine lines, brightening, nourishing, and repairing the skin.

Some main ingredients are: Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil (for skin conditioning), Rosa Moschata Seed Oil (provide powerful anti-oxidant protection), and Tocopherol (form of vitamin E).

Full list of ingredients:

Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Rosa Moschata Seed Oil*, Tocopherol, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil*, Rose Flower Oil, Commiphora Myrrha Oil, Boswellia Carteri Oil, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil (*Organic Ingredient)

Every morning, I like to go in with the vitamin oil serum. It’s much more of a lighter texture compare to the glow oil serum, so it feels comfortable throughout the day. Also it gives me enough glow that looks good when I have makeup or no makeup. I haven’t seen much differences yet with my fine lines and brightening effect, but I do enjoy how my skin feels.

More details on the oil serum:

  1. Texture ~ It is a light-weight oil texture that penetrates quickly into the skin. It feels very comfortable on the skin and doesn’t leave much of a oily residue.
  2. Smell~ This has a very calming aromatic smell to it. Personally, I can smell the lavender and rosehip a lot more compare to the other ingredients. It always makes me feel so calm when I apply it every morning.
  3. Color ~ It’s a gorgeous light pasty yellow shade. Very similar to the glow oil serum except more pale and brighter.

Glow Oil Serum

In comparison to the vitamin oil serum, I like to use the glow oil serum every night. Since the oil texture is bit more dense, I don’t want it to overlap with my morning skincare routine. This serum contains 98.5% organic ingredients and 99.9% natural ingredients. Most ingredients focus on skin rejuvenation, restoration, and deep moisture.

Some main ingredients are: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil (for skin hydration and anti-oxidant protection), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil (for skin conditioning), and Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil (helps skin look smooth and free from fine lines).

Full ist of ingredients are:

Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil*, Calendula Officinalis Flower Oil*, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Oil*, Tocopherol, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Flower Oil*, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil, (*Organic ingredient)

As I mentioned before, during my night skincare routine, I like to incorporate the glow oil serum. This serum is a more dense texture which is very moisturizing. If I thought the vitamin oil serum “glow” was astounding, then I was wrong. The Glow Oil Serum is at a whole other level. After applying this oil serum, my face looks like glass skin. It provides that nice dewy translucent sheen.

A few more things I noticed about the serum~

  1. Smell ~ It has a very unique smell that reminds me of some flower. I’m not a huge fan of the scent, but it something I can get used to. Also after applying it, I barely notice the scent.
  2. Color~ The color is darker than the vitamin oil serum. It’s more of an orange-yellow shade. The colors definitely reminds me of a sunflower.
  3. Texture ~ It’s a dense oil texture that applies nicely. It doesn’t entirely soak into the skin but it still feels comfortable on the skin.

Similarities and Differences Between the Oil Serums.

Even though the oil serums had similar ingredients such as the jojoba oil and tocopherol, they reacted very differently on my skin. The vitamin oil serum felt very light-weight and hydrating whereas the glow oil serum was dense and moisturizing. If you have very dry, damaged, or mature skin, the glow oil serum would be suitable since it contains many ingredients that aid with deep moisture and fine lines. On the other hand, if you want to target skin texture, brightening, and fine lines, then I would go for the vitamin oil serum.

Who is the winner?

I love them both BUT I would pick the Vitamin Oil Serum as the winner. Why? I enjoy the light-weight texture, relaxing aroma, and how nicely it absorbs into the skin. Also it doesn’t interfere with my other skincare steps. These days I really want to use more skincare ingredients that help with brightening and reducing fine lines, so this serum has definitely helped me to take that step.
